Hallo,
I am using DBOX2 1.9 and I tried to export my ship from max 9, although
I know that DBOX2 is not compatibel to max 9 .
The .bod file contains only this:
/# Exported with dbox2 1.9 from Falcon-2V.max at 12.02.2008 14:10:32
MATERIAL6: 0; 0;

okay sorry if this has come up before.....
had a bit to drink but i don't think thats the problem but i have been using the dbox for a bit but had to reinstall some stuff after some system problems.
my problem is that when i go to import anything into autodesk 3ds max 9 i get an error..
the error is
DBOX2> Loading scene file "D:\x3unpacked\objects\ships\argon\argon_M3.bod"
DBOX2> Error - line: 5, col: 1: Expected version specification
DBOX2> scene: loaded 0 path(s)
DBOX2> file loaded with errors
i'm pretty sure i decompiled the files properly but and reinstalled everything and still cant figure out why dobx wont import.. no problems before untill reinstalling
any help would be appreciated...

I've been editing the 00749 bod file quite a bit and made an excel program that spat out Rotational Axis as well as the rotation/traspositional values based on sector coordinates within the bod file (-25616; 5215; 8459 IE) However I my math just wont accept every possible sector coordinate. So i grew tired of this and tried out your DBOX program. I haven't been able to mod anything as of yet.
Also I'm using Max 2008 Thanks in advance.

Dbox doesn't work 100% with Max 2008. When I was using the 2008 demo, all texture co-ords were lost when importing/exporting from 2008.
Anyway, you are importing argon_m3 which is a body file, not a scene, however you have specified in dbox that it is a scene, hence "scene: loaded 0 path(s) ". Change it to body and it will import, but as said above, Max 2008 has problems with textures and dbox.

ok, how long does it actually take to load up something like an X3:TC capital ship?
I've been trying to load the Terran M1 and after about 10mins of nothing i restarted the program.
I'm just trying to load the actual model, i don't care about the textures, etc.

I'm not gonna put up a giant DxDiag, so i'm just gonna say this:
Processor: 2.8Ghz Celeron
Graphics: 512MB Ati HD 2600
Memory: 1.5 GB DDR RAM
I know it's crap, but i'm gonna upgrade the next chance i get.
I'm sure it just takes ages, because i tried the Cutlass and that loaded in about 30sec's. And loading the Terran M1 seem's to be putting it through the same process...... just slower.

Did someone of you ever get an error like "DBOX2 has not been initialized - Cannot start"?
Never had this one before...I'm afraid it may have something to do with Max 2009...worked perfectly on my "old" Max 9, which however doesn't work with Vista ...any suggestions?

I have encountered that in some case installing things that is for other versions strange things happens.
But I can’t see that it shall not work with Max-2009

Thanks for the answer MightyOdin ...don't know why, but effectively the installer didn't extract all the request files as it did on my previous Max version...quite strange...but anyway, as already said before the plug-in is screwed up even in Max 2009, all UV coords are messed up, no way to come up with some good renders out of this anymore ...

install sp2 for max9 and feel free to use it on vista=)

Can't get any modding tools?!
I'm trying to download DOBX2 and some other modding tools, but the X Universe site is gone! And the only other one is the Czech site, but I'm worried that downloading it from there may cause some language problems on my computer. Will the tools appear in English if I download them from a foreign server?

Why would doubleshadow make a separate Czech version of any program? It is the same program package.
everytime i try to open an exported scene, wether it be a vanilla one or a custom one, i end up with the following error message when i try to open the scene in the x3 editors 3d viewer:
i do not get this message if i delete all objects from my scene (cockpits, engine emitter, turrets, etc) except the main shipbody
im tried both 3dmax8 and 2010 with dbox2 1.10 and 1.9
does anyone have an idea what the problem may be?
